Changes in bone structure, lean mass, and glucose metabolism within the first six months post-stroke: a prospective study

A/Prof Julie Bernhardt
Austin Health

Supervisors: A/Prof Julie Bernhardt, Dr Sandra Luliano-Burns,Dr Marco Pang,

This is a small prospective study to identify the changes in bone, muscle and glucose metabolism that occur within the first 6 months after stroke and their relationship to motor recovery and activity. The study employs state of the art technology to measure bone changes over time. The information from this study will help investigators build exercise based interventions with a view to slowing, preventing bone and muscle loss after stroke.
